Shrink fitting – safe and precise

Shrink fitting is a process in which metal components are joined together with a precise fit by heating or cooling – typically by expanding the outer part by heating so that the inner part can be inserted. When cooled, the outer part contracts again and fixes the component in place with a force-fit connection.

Shrink fitting with the aid of a robot combines precise temperature control with automated handling, thus offering an efficient solution for joining components with a precise fit. When heating or cooling components, the robot takes over the exact positioning, insertion, and removal—always in sync with the thermal process. This not only increases process reliability but also optimizes cycle time. Especially in recurring, temperature-critical applications, robot-assisted shrink fitting technology ensures consistent quality and significantly reduces the workload for skilled personnel.

Your advantages:

  • Safe working conditions  |   No manual handling of hot parts, eliminating the risk of burns.
  • Less physical strain  | No more lifting heavy parts.
  • Improved quality  | Automation ensures consistent quality for every workpiece.
  • Time savings  | The joining and pressing processes are integrated into a single operation.
